Cantin, Valeda (nee Mathieu)
Peacefully passed away at Nipissing Manor on January 19, 2019 in her 99th year. Predeceased by her husband Joseph Cantin and her son Raymond Cantin (Jeannette-surviving). Loving mother of Colette Page (Gerry), Suzanne Donovan (Al), Daniel Cantin (Lina), Robert Cantin (Carla) and Michel Cantin (Karen). Cherished grandma of 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by her sister Lila Baumken, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Predeceased by her parents; Oscar and Julia Mathieu and by her siblings Albert, Rose Chatelain, Eduard, Cecile Dunn, Louise Dunn, Tom, Samuel and Irene Shields. Cremation has taken place at Whispering Pines Funeral Home’s Crematorium. Family will receive visitors at McGuinty Funeral Home on Friday April 12, 2019 from 6-9 pm and Saturday April 13, 2019 from 9:30 am until time of service at 11 am. A celebration of life will be held at the Callander Legion following the service beginning at 3 pm until 7 pm. A special thank you to the staff at Nipissing Manor for their care and compassion given to our mother over the last 10 years.
