Obituary of Thomas Playford
Peacefully in his sleep at Cedarcroft Place Retirement Residence in Stratford, on Easter Sunday, April 21st, 2019. Thomas Alexandre Playford, of Owen Sound, at the age of 93 years. Dearly loved husband of the late Irmine “Pat” Playford (nee Hamilton). Loving father of Russell Playford (Louise), of South Carolina, Col (ret’d) Martin Playford, (Joy), of Kelowna, BC, Catherine Playford, of Toronto, Michael Playford, of Calgary, Peter Playford, of Sauble Beach and Chuck Playford, of Owen Sound. Proud grandfather of Thomas (Shannon), Alison (Mitchell), Graham (Petra), James (Jessica), Martin, Elizabeth, Alicia (Kyle) and great-grandfather of Rosanna, Georgia, Betty Jean, Marlon, Zoe and Kinsley. Predeceased by his parents, John and Pearl Playford; his granddaughter, Laura Everett; his siblings, Bev Playford and Rene Eakins (Lorne).
A Memorial Service for Thomas Playford will be held in the Chapel of the BRIAN E. WOOD FUNERAL HOME, 250 – 14th Street, West, Owen Sound, Ontario N4K 3X8 (519-376-7492) on Saturday, April 27th, 2019 at 2:30 p.m. Visitation from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. prior to the service. Interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Owen Sound. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #6 will hold a Legion Service at 1:15 p.m. prior to the visitation. If so desired, the family would appreciate donations to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #6 Poppy Fund as an expression of sympathy.
