Obituary for Rose Johnston
Rose Marie (Thompson) Johnston of Dresden, Ontario and formerly of Wallaceburg, Ontario, passed away peacefully at her residence on Tuesday, April 2, 2019, after a courageous 2 year battle with cancer, at the age of 71. Rose is the daughter of the late Robert and Jennny (Shepley) Thompson formerly of Wallaceburg, Ontario, and Blenheim, Ontario. Predeceased by her beloved husband Archibald Johnston (formerly of Peters Road, Prince Edward Island, in 2010). Mother of Crystal McGuire, Scott Rayson, Dawn Rayson and “Special Mother” to Shawn Philip Rayson of Toronto. Survived by grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Sister of Kathleen Donahue and the late Michael of Joe Batt’s Arm, Newfoundland and brother of the late John Robert Thompson of Wallaceburg, Ontario. Sister-in- Law of Pauline Johnston & the late George of Kanata, Ontario, the late Margaret Marchak and Joe of Brampton, Ontario and Elizabeth Grimmett & the late Dave of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. Rose was a baseball standout in her early years, at Steinhoff Park, while growing up in Wallaceburg, Ontario. A generous kind person who gave all she could to those in need. Also a loyal and trusted friend to many, many people! She will be sadly missed by everyone including her beloved dogs Maggie and Oscar! The family will receive relatives and friends at the HAYCOCK-CAVANAGH FUNERAL HOME, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg from 2-4 & 7-9 PM on Wednesday. The funeral will be celebrated at First Baptist Church, (99 Thomas Avenue, at the end of Napier St.) on Thursday, April 11 at 11 AM. A time of fellowship and refreshment will follow at the Cavanagh Reception Centre. Cremation with interment in Evergreen Cemetery in Blenheim on Saturday, April 13 at 11AM.
