It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Ronald Armstrong on December 30, 2018 at the age of 82 years.
A veteran of 29 years, our Father earned RCAF Air Man of the year in 1976. In 2 separate incidences 10 days apart, following unsuccessful attempts by Edm Centre to vector lost and disoriented pilots in poor weather conditions, Namao tower was requested to assist the emergency situations. Master Corporal Armstrong accepted control of the aircraft in both circumstances. Despite Pilot apprehension, his calm, confident instruction successfully aided both landings, avoiding what would have been certain loss of life. Dad, you brought many loved ones home to their families and friends, now it’s your time to be guided home. We miss you already.
Ronald will always be lovingly remembered by his wife of 58 years, Louise; children, Jocelyn, Vaughn (Alisen) and Brian (Marnie); grandchildren, Andrea, Paige, Brendon, Connor and Reis; great grandchildren, Tristan, Hannah and Marilyn; as well as extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ronald may be made to The Legion National Foundation or the charity of one’s choice.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Ronald Wayne Armstrong of Morinville
