It is with great sadness, that the loving family of Ronald Melbourne Allen, age 90, of Lunenburg and formerly of Garden Lots, announces his passing on Monday, April 15, 2019 at the Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg.
Ronnie was born on January, 10, 1929 in Rum Point, outside Lunenburg. He lived the majority of his life in Garden Lots and took great pride that he was part of this community. Ronnie was a son of the late John Henry and Sadie (MacDonald) Allen.
In his earlier years Ronnie was self-employed as a general truck driver, a Texaco Oil distributor for the Lunenburg area, and then went on to work in fleet maintenance at High Liner, Lunenburg, retiring in 1992. He was a faithful member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Lunenburg. Ronnie enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, always taking great pride in his property and spending quality time with his family. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Ronnie is survived by his wife, Madeline, daughters, Donna (Robert) Heisler, Sherwood Park, AB.; Sheila Falkenham, Halifax; Nancy (Tom) Pittman, Lunenburg; son, Ron (Agnes) Allen, Guelph, ON.; grandchildren, Stacey (Laurianne), Tara (Dwayne), Ashley (John), Matthew (Amanda), Amy (Dan) , T.J. (Dawn), Jennifer (Palmer); 9 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Mary Allen, Bridgewater and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by brothers, Murray, Albert, Bernard and Ivan and a sister, Marion.
A Celebration of Life and reception will take place on Friday, May 17, 2019 at 2 pm at the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg. Interment will be in Garden Lots Cemetery, Garden Lots, at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Garden Lots Cemetery or to a charity of your choice.
