Mary « Georgina » Desmond
1934-2019
Desmond, M. Georgina, age 84, of
Antigonish passed away on April 22, 2019 at the R.K. MacDonald Nursing
Home, Antigonish.
Born in Antigonish, she was the
daughter of the late Alfred and Ida (Phee) Skinner.
Georgina lived in Toronto for forty
years, returning in 2009 after the sudden death of her youngest son,
Stephen. She loved music, dancing, cards and bingo. Getting together
with family was important to her. Everyone looked forward to
Georgina’s signature delicious ham and her special
sauce.
She is survived by her son, Joe
Skinner (Josie), Antigonish; daughter: Pearl Skinner-Patterson (Kyle),
Bedford; sisters: Pearl Skinner, Antigonish; Rachael Troup, Toronto;
brother: Ernie Skinner (Jean), Toronto; sister in law Rita Ash;
grandchildren: Dwayne Parsons, Toronto and Krystle MacInnis,
Antigonish as well as many nieces and nephews who were so special to
her, Bette Skinner, Karen Skinner, Tom (Linda) Skinner, Darlene
Rushton and Joanne (Peter) Lind to name a few.
Predeceased by her son, Stephen;
brothers: Joe, Tom and Bill; sister, Hattie.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation
will be in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish on
Thursday from 6 to 9 pm.
Funeral Mass will be held in St.
Ninian Cathedral on Friday at 11:00 am with Reverend Donald
MacGillivray presiding. Burial in the parish cemetery at a later
date.

of St. Martha’s Regional Hospital. Special thank you to the
