Sims, John Franklin “Frank”
With deep sadness we announce the death of Frank who passed away surrounded by his loving family in his home on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at the age of 80.
Frank was born in Windsor on March 29, 1939 and was the son of the late Amos Franklin and Vera May (Vincent) Sims.
Leaving to grieve is his wife and soul mate of 59 years, Sara Lorraine (Highgate) Sims and his two sons, Brian Sims of Chatham and Michael and Laurie Sims of British Columbia. Also survived by a daughter-in-law Sherry Sims of Chatham.
Frank was very proud of his beautiful and loving grand daughters, Alyson Mason of Alberta and Naomi Sims of Windsor.
Loving brother of Bertha and the late Wayman Scott, Darlene and Ralph Highgate, Amos Jr. and the late Margaret Sims, Glen and Carmel Sims, the late Donelda Curry and infant brother Eric Wade Sims.
Dear brother- in- law of John and Louise Highgate, Sherman and Elaine Highgate and Pat Highgate.
Best friend and golfing Buddy, Cecil Chandler and his wife, Flora.
Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family of Union Baptist Church.
Frank served ten years in the Royal Canadian Navy in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where his sons were born. He was employed and retired from Oxford Automotive, Wallaceburg, after 30 years.
He was an active member of the Union Baptist Church in Dresden, serving as Chairman of the Trustee Board and a choir member.
The family will receive friends at Union Baptist Church, 10586 Union Line, Dresden, ON, on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with the Celebration of Life to follow.
Cremation has taken place and a private family burial will be held in Dresden Cemetery.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham, ON.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Frank to Union Baptist Church, Dresden or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
