James Lorne Francis, Charlottetown and formerly of Fortune Bridge, passed away at Centennial Court on April 27, 2019, in his 94th year. He is survived by children Rory (Ann), Vicki (Martha), Randy (Wendy) and six grandchildren Adam, Graeme (Amra), Carmen (Dylan), Timothy, Jesse and Magie (Aaron). He is also survived by sister Ethel MacEwen, brother-in-law Robert (Lena) MacKay, sister-in-law Gabrielle Larocque Daoust, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Roma, son Robin, parents Harry and Ethel Francis, sisters Elizabeth Williamson, Hilda (Buff) LePage, Bernice MacLeod, and brother John (Buster) Francis.
Lorne was born in Fortune Bridge and educated at Mount Allison University. He was one of the third generation of craftsmen of J.S. Francis and Sons Carriage and Sleigh Manufacturers. He operated a heating system installation and repair business serving Eastern Kings County for many years until he and Roma retired to Winsloe and their cottage in Stanley Bridge.
The funeral will be held at Bay Fortune United Church, at 11:00 am, Wednesday, May 1, 2019. Visitation at the Dingwell Funeral Home Tuesday, April 30, 2019 from 4pm-7pm. Interment to follow in the Bay Fortune United Church Cemetery.
