James « Jim » Aylward
May 22, 1932 – March 30, 2019
Passed peacefully away on Saturday, March 30, 2019, Jim Aylward in his 87th year. Predeceased by his brothers and sisters Phil, Imelda, Pius, Zita, Gordon, Howard and Phyllis. Left with fond and loving memories his wife Mary of 63 years; sons Jim (Anne), Bob (Lynn) and Tony (Robyne); grandchildren Alex, Daniel, Jay, Kassandra and Gillian; great grandchildren Jordie and River. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Cremation has taken place. Visitation on Wednesday from 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, April 4, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. from the Basilica of St. John the Baptist. Inurnment to follow at a later date at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Our father was a well known pharmacist who operated his own drug stores in St. John’s for many years. He retired from his career in Pharmacy working for Lawtons. Dad was also an active fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus his entire adult life. He bought a cabin on Witless Bay Line when his family was young and spent many enjoyable years there with friends and family and instilled in us an appreciation of the outdoors. He was a devoted husband and father and as per his wishes spent his final years in his own home. We would like to thank his caregivers especially Linda Hynes, whose excellent care made Dad’s final months far more comfortable. Special thanks to his friends at the K of C especially his card playing buddies who were there to the end.
