Hazel Blanche Schofield
1925-2019
Hazel Blanche Schofield – age 93, of New Minas, Kings County,
passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2019 in the Valley Regional Hospital,
Kentville. Born in Hall’s Harbour, she was a daughter of the
late Charles and Ella (Porter) Simpson. She attended Teachers College
and later taught at Baxter’s Harbour School (Grades 1-6).
She was a homemaker, who kept herself busy cooking, cleaning and
taking care of family. She enjoyed going for drives, especially to her
beloved home community of Hall’s Harbour. She is survived by
a daughter, Sharon Ross (Harvey Hanna), Centreville; a step-son,
Richard (Ginny), Coldbrook; a sister, Thelma Huntley, New Minas; a
daughter-in-law, Geraldine, Glenmont; several nieces, nephews,
grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will also be missed by her
dear friends and neighbours, Alice and Sylvia. She was predeceased by
her husband, Edward; son, Vernon; step-son, Howard; three brothers,
Arthur, Keith « Major », and Joseph « Ted »; two
half-sisters, Greta and Dorothy and two half-brothers, Harry and John.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation by request.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9,
2019, in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Sterling
Gosman officiating. Burial will take place in the West
Hall’s Harbour Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to
the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or to a charity of your
choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family
Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
