Frank Conrad
1933-2019
CONRAD, Frank Basil
« Frankie » – 85 of Cherry Hill, passed away peacefully on
April 14th, 2019 at Hillside Pines
with his granddaughter Erika, the light of his life, at his side. Born
in Cherry Hill Nov. 27th 1933, he was a son of the late Arnold and
Beatrice (Conrad) Conrad. The ocean was Frankie’s
life. He gained his sea legs as a young man sailing on the
Gypsum Ships to the southern states of the USA. Frankie
spent years fishing with National Sea before returning home to embark
on his own fishing adventures. An avid fisherman, Frankie
learned and mastered the methods handed down from generations
before. After retirement, he was not too keen to settle
down quite yet. Always willing to lend a hand, and share
his knowledge to those around the community. He spent many
hours in his later years knitting and preparing bait bags.
This allowed him to feel like he still had a part to play.
Frankie was often portrayed as a bit rowdy in his younger
years. He celebrated life to the fullest. In
his later years, Frankie settled down. The last of his
time at home in Cherry Hill was spent sitting in his chair, watching
the ocean, with his beloved dog Bailey on his lap. Frankie
will be remembered by many, for his big heart, quick-witted wisdom,
and the spark in his eye. We will continue to cherish him
in our hearts and memories, knowing he will always be by our sides. He
is survived by his daughters Zelda (Ian) Bridgewater, Anita (Halifax),
Granddaughters Erika & Aliya, former son in law Shawn (Linda)
Cherry Hill. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by
his brother Michael. As per his wishes, there will be no
visitation or service. In honour of Frankie’s love for dogs,
memorial donations may be made to Elder Dog Canada. At
this time, the family would like to extend their greatest gratitude
and appreciation to all the staff at Hillside Pines for the
outstanding care and love shown to Frankie while residing there.
