Obituary of Frances Louise Berry
Frances Louise Berry of Smith’s Cove.
In the early hours of April 28, 2019, at the age of 92, God called Frances home. She was a dearly beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. Born in 1926 in Smith’s Cove to Nellie (Winchester-Sulis) and Elmer Weir.
She was predeceased by her husband Arthur Berry and her sister Edna Adams.
She is survived by two daughters Brenda (John) Oikle and Holly (Paul) Lewis; grandchildren Craig Oikle, Jeffery Oikle, Laura Lewis and Leslie Lewis; great-grandchildren Nash, Boe and Sage, sons of Jeffrey and Kelly; a sister Joan and wonderful niece Joy Robbins who was always there for her and helped her to stay in her home; as well as nephews Michael, Peter and niece Janice, children of her sister Joan who all reside in Ontario.
Frances worked at the Smith’s Cove Post Office, retiring after 29 years of life-long public and community service in 1988. She was a life-time member of the Smith’s Cove Baptist Church, Church Treasurer, Decorating Committee and other offices as well as a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She was also an active member of the Smith’s Cove Historical Society.
In 2000, Frances received the Danny Gallivan Volunteer Award for her outstanding contribution and dedication to the Digby and Areas Health Services Charitable Foundation. She also volunteered at the Digby General Hospital and was a life-long blood donor.

She will be dearly missed by her family, her church and her community.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial Service will take place on May 18, 2019 at 1:00 pm in the Smith’s Cove Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Cress officiating. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the Smith’s Cove Baptist Church or a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Digby County Funeral Chapel, 367 Highway #303, Digby, B0V 1A0 (902-245-2444).
