Earle Gilbert Lunn
1923-2019
It is with sadness that we
announce that our father passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2019. God
called him home in a peaceful way, with his family by his
side.
Earle was
born on June 12, 1923 in Newport Station, Hants County, Nova Scotia.
He was predeceased by his parents, Sidney and Jessie Lunn; his sister,
Julie Muir and his loving wife of almost 68 years, Med (Melda Irene
Parker) Lunn and son-in-law, Peter
Harris.
He is
survived by daughter, Kathy (Victor) Vaughan of Riverview; son, Bryant
(Maxine) Lunn of Marmora, ON and grandchildren, Kristy (Joey) Garland,
Mark (Sarah) Harris, Daren Lunn, Clarissa Lunn and Carson (Kim) Lunn;
11 great grandchildren and one great, great
grandchild.
After
finishing high school, Earle enlisted in the RCAF during WWII, where
he served for 4 ½ years. He later attended one semester of
Civil Engineering at Acadia University, Wolfville, NS, before leaving
University to get married and start a family. He worked as a
Pre-Engineering Time Keeper with Fundy Gypsum, Windsor, NS, as well as
a Heavy Equipment Operator. Earle worked as a Customs Officer in
Walton, NS, served as a Security Guard at D.N.D. Maritime Forces
Atlantic Naval Radio Station, Newpoint Corner, NS. He retired in 1983
from Canada Post, after serving 27 years in Windsor. A few years after
retirement, he moved to Moncton, where he has dwelled for the past
many years.
Earle, a
servant of the Lord, served as Sunday School Superintendent at Three
Mile Plains, NS. A member of Windsor Baptist Church, served on the
Board of Deacons at that church; member of the Male Church Choir. He
was a member of the « Mariners Gospel Group »; member of the
Providence Christian Church; a member of Lower Coverdale Baptist
Church, where he served on the Board of Deacons. Over the last many
years, he has been a member of the Lewisville Baptist
Church.
Earle was a
member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 6 in Moncton and a resident
of the War Veterans Care Centre. A member of the Gospel Group
« Family and Friends ». Earle served as a volunteer at The
Moncton Hospital. Played harmonica with a musical group entertaining
older patients on a weekly
basis.
A special
thank you goes out to the wonderful and caring staff of the Moncton
War Veterans Centre. They were truly a
blessing.
Friends will
be received at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton
(858-1995) on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 from 6:30 to 8:30
pm.
Forwarded
for visitation at Windsor Baptist Church (411 King St., Windsor, NS)
on Saturday, April 27, 2019 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm, followed immediately
with a Funeral Service at 2:00 pm. Reception to follow in the Church
Hall.
Interment
will be held in Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor,
NS.
