Donald Edwin Foster of Glenboro MB passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Friday April 5, 2019 at the age of 78 years.
Don was born on June 8, 1940 in Somerset MB, one of four children to Edward & Grace Foster. After receiving his education in Somerset, Don gained employment with the Royal Bank of Canada in Winnipeg, where he met his future wife Gail Rubidge of Altamont MB, who was employed at the Winnipeg Grain Exchange next door.
Don & Gail were married in September 1962 then moving to Glenboro where Don became the CEO for the Village of Glenboro. Don held this position for 54 years retiring in 2005. Don had many hobbies of which were wood working & miniature toy train building. He was a dedicated man to his community & sat on numerous committees & boards holding various positions. He cherished his family & enjoyed visiting with relatives, friends & neighbours.
Don leaves to mourn his passing his loving wife Gail (nee Rubidge), son Randy (Donna) of Salmon Arm B.C., five grandchildren & several great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Idella Atkin of Winnipeg, brothers & sisters-in-law Jim Ross of Winnipeg, Joan (Roy) Ticknor of Pinawa MB, Dale (Dianne) Rubidge of Strasbourg SK as well as numerous extended family members.
Don was predeceased by his son Darrell in 1983, parents Edward & Grace Foster, sister Pearl Ross & by a brother Ivan Foster.
A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday April 10, 2019 at 2:00 pm at the Glenboro Cemetery with Sandra Rex officiating. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Following the interment a reception will take place in the Glenboro C.E. Building.
