David Marshall Aird
1938-2019
It is with sadness that the family of David Aird announces
his death at York Care Centre on Wednesday, April
10th, 2019 at the age of 81. Born in Glasgow,
Scotland, on January 13th, 1938, he was the son
of the late David and Helenora (Gifford) Aird.
David leaves behind his wife, Ann Aird of Fredericton;
brothers-in-law, Charles Wood (Charlotte) of Port Williams, NS, Roger
Wood of Hamilton, ON, and Andrew Wood of Nashwaak Bridge; as
well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great
nephews.
David immigrated to Canada from Scotland in 1966 when he was
offered a summer job. In keeping with his great sense of humor he
would often remark that « it’s been one long
summer ». Formally, he was a social worker but saw himself as
a child care worker, often dealing with difficult children and
circumstances.
He had many interests; loved sailing and bicycling but mostly
he loved people. He was a people person and this was reflected in his
choice of career as well as in his photography. David was also a
wonderful storyteller and, very importantly, he did all the
accents.
There will be no visitation or service. For those who wish,
donations in David’s memory can be made to the Alzheimer
Society.
