Brian McDormand
1949-2019
Brian Ernest McDormand
After a life well lived, and surrounded by loved ones, Brian
passed away on April 27, 2019 at the age of 69. ALS may have invaded
his body, however it never took away from who he was. With courage,
knowledge, forethought, compassion for others, awareness and a sense
of humour he faced what life brought him.
Brian’s life was filled with love. He and Susan
(Brown), the love of his life, created memories that will help to
sustain the family. Sons, Lantz (Amy) Oakhill, NS and Tyson (Annie)
Kelowna BC will miss their Dad. Grandchildren Ethan, Hunter, Brier and
Azalea will dearly miss the laughter and fun they had with their
beloved Duda. Brian also leaves behind his only brother, Donald
(Lynne) from Bridgewater, many nieces, nephews and a large extended
family.
Brian was predeceased by his parents Shirley and Lillian
McDormand of Bridgewater. (Formerly of Brier Island and Middle
Musquodoboit)
With the family, Brian and Susan enjoyed lots of time at the
cabin on Seven Mile Lake. Following Retirement they caught the travel
bug and travelled with family and friends on many adventures. Along
with Donald and Lynne, they purchased and renovated a home on Long
Island, creating priceless memories and making some of
life’s best friends.
Brian was a genealogist and shared his love of exploring
family and community history with others.
The family sends special thanks to the staff at SSRH and the
Palliative Care Team.
No flowers or ties by request. Memorial donations can be made
