Pauline Leora Gallagher
1919-2019
Pauline Leora (Noble) Gallagher of Fredericton, wife of the
late Charles Gregory Gallagher, died peacefully at Hospice House
Fredericton on April 26, 2019 in her 100th year.
Pauline was predeceased by brothers Lorne, Lawrence, Norris
and Franklyn, sisters Nellie Parlin, Edna Vail and twin sister Maxine
Clair, daughter-in-law Charlotte Gallagher and son-in-law Ed Callow.
Pauline was the last surviving member of her immediate
family.
Pauline is survived by her sons Bevan (Jean Skead), Tom
(Cindy), Greg (JoAnn) all of Fredericton, and daughter Jan Callow of
North Vancouver. She is also survived by grandchildren Danielle,
Sarah, Todd, Nick, Bronwyn, Erin, Lindsay, Bre and Nelly, great
grandchildren Layla, Chloe, Kenray, Mason, Plum, Sam, Leah, Avery,
Harper and Finnley, and great-great grandson Odin.
Born in Bristol, NB, Pauline attended the Provincial Normal
School and became a teacher. Widowed in 1954 at the age of 34 with
four small children, Pauline returned to teaching and taught many
years at St. Dunstan’s School. When she retired, she
volunteered many more years at the South Devon School library. Pauline
was very active throughout her life. She was an accomplished
seamstress. She loved walking – she walked everywhere! She
enjoyed playing bridge with her friends. She was a volunteer driver
for Meals on Wheels. She curled for many years, and played golf and
cross-country skied into her nineties.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Shannex and Hospice
House Fredericton for their care and compassion. Per
Pauline’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral.
For those who wish, memorials may be made to Hospice House Fredericton
or the charity of the donor’s choice.
