Leona Clara Dusome (Gignac). March 14 1947 – April 13, 2019
Preceded by her parents Paul and Margaret Gignac and baby brother Renie.
Survived by children Tammy (Brett) and Thomas, Grandchildren Lucas, Logan and Lydia
Brothers Leo (Gail), John (Sue), Allan (Sharon) and Paul (Gwen).
Leona (Lee) passed away peacefully after just learning she had cancer 3 weeks prior. She spent those few weeks in good spirits – playing crib, reminiscing and enjoying visits with her family & friends including her 4 brothers who traveled from Ontario to see her which she enjoyed immensely.
Lee was born in Midland Ont. and grew up in this small town helping her mom with her 4 younger brothers. She enjoyed dancing and cooking and had many friends. She married Larry Dusome in 1965 and after Tammy & Thomas were born they moved out West to BC in 1968. The family remained in BC living in Vancouver, Richmond, North Delta and Langley.
She had various jobs during her life but her favorite thing to do was spend time with her 3 grandchildren. Lee traveled to Mexico, California, Alaska, Jamaica and the Caribbean so she had many great adventures!
After a small stroke that left her blind in one eye in 2014 she retired and enjoyed knitting, word search puzzles and gardening.
In 2017 she moved to Vancouver Island with Tammy and her family and spent the last 2 years loving the quiet Island life in Chemainus, many visitors and grandchildren.
She will be greatly missed and for those who did receive a blanket that she knitted (she was happy to hand them out to anybody that visited) we hope you enjoy and think of her.
She did not wish for a service but asked us to have a chocolate martini for her!
