Peacefully surrounded by her family at Highland Crest Senior’s Home, Minden on Thursday morning, April 11, 2019, in her 91st year. Beloved wife of William (Bill) McAfee for over 70 years. Loving, devoted mother of Janet (Oakville) and David (Kitchener). Dear sister of Grace. Predeceased by her parents Frances and Edward Beard, sisters Edith and Linda. Also lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews. Always happy and having fun, Gladys enjoyed many hobbies and interests such as travelling, gardening, knitting, bowling, crafting and hosting many friends and family at home and at the lake. She dedicated her time to helping others and working with special needs children in Oakville and later in Markham, where she started a cooking school at Participation House to prepare young adults for independent living.
Private Celebration of Life & Reception
Cremation has taken place. A private Celebration Of Life will take place at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Haliburton Highlands Health Services Foundation www.hhhs.ca/donate would be appreciated by the family.
