Ralph D. Morgan
May 9, 1934 – March 18, 2019
It is with profound sadness that the family of Ralph D. Morgan announces his sudden passing on Monday, March 18, 2019, just shy of his 85th birthday, after a long and courageous battle with COPD. Born in Wayne, Alberta on May 9, 1934, along with his twin brother, Allan. Ralph will be remembered for his prank phone calls, crazy voices, and his wonderful sense of humor. He played a variety of sports in his younger years and truly loved to watch sporting events later in his life. He loved to golf and curl with his buddies throughout his life until his later years when his health would no longer allow him to do so. Ralph worked for over 30 years for the City of Calgary, holding many different positions throughout his lengthy career. He retired in 1989 at age 55 from the city as an auditor. He couldn’t wait to start the next chapter and the freedom that went with that. Ralph and Norma loved to spend part of their summers at Lake Blaine, Montana with the family and with other campers who became lifelong friends. The kids and grand kids were also a big part of those summers, that created so many happy memories. His grand kids were a big part of the daily life. Ralph and Norma never missed a hockey game, school concerts, or any function that the grand kids were part of. He kept in daily contact with them through phone calls and most recently texting. Ralph and Norma were residents of St. Andrews Heights for over 35 years, raising the family there and having some of the best neighbors and friends. There were several neighborhood parties over the years where Norma would play the piano while Ralph crooned. Ralph and Norma spent many hours volunteering for community activities. Ralph was predeceased by Norma in July 2007, his wife of over 50 years. We are at comfort knowing that they have been reunited once again. He is survived by his loving family; daughter, Wendy (Jerry) Anderson; his sons, Rick Morgan and Gary (Leah) Morgan; three grandchildren, Bradley (Taya) Chapman, Kevin Chapman, and Jillian Chapman; and one great grandson, Kingsley Chapman. He is also survived by his sister, Iris (Joe) Volpi; his brother Leonard (Rhoda) Morgan; sister-in-law,Gwen Morgan; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son-in-law, Ronald Chapman; parents, Ivor and Elizabeth Morgan; twin brother, Allan (Irene) Morgan; brother Kenneth (Joyce) Morgan; and special aunt and uncle Ronnie and Margaret Niblett. He is also survived by some special lifelong friends; Garry (Jan) Poffenroth, Jules (Vi) Szepesi, Richard (Lynn) Poffenroth, and Earl (Nellie) Pineau. The family would like to thank you for being such good loyal friends to our parents. It is with great difficulty and sadness, that the family will say good bye to a very special, generous family man. The loss has left a big void which will be hard to adjust to. We will truly miss his daily phone calls to discuss the Flames games, politics, or whatever else was the daily topic of discussion, or just to say “Hi”. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Bow Valley Church, 5300 – 53rd Avenue NW, Calgary, Alberta, T3A 2G8 on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Canadian Red Cross Society, Alberta/NWT, P.O. Box 4050, Stn. C, Calgary, Alberta T2T 5W7 www.redcross.ca.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Ralph Dudley Morgan March 18th 2019..
