It is with profound saddness the family of Norma Elliott (Woods) announces her passing on February 27, 2019.
Mom was born on March 30th, 1943 to Lloyd and Katherine Woods in Kirkland Lake, Ontario. Mom was the youngest of 13 children and is survived by her sister Josie Grant (Russ) of Serpent River, Ontario.
In 1959 she married Bill Elliott and lived happily until his passing in 2012. After living in the Elliot Lake areafor the first few years, Dad convinced mom that Island life was for them to raise their family. Together they had 3 boys,
Lloyd (Darlene) of Mindemoya,
Johnny (Wendy) of Sault Ste. Marie
and Glenn (Laurie) of Val Gagne.
Grand mother to John, Glenn, Ryan, Amber, Cory and Shane.
Great Grand Mother to 10.
Mom was well known for baking, cooking, canning and gardening. She loved participating in the annual Providence Bay Fair. She was the happiest in her kitchen preparing meals for all who came.
Her baking was legendary – Legend has it she made daily lunches for her boys to take to school. At one parent teacher night she found out Johnny was selling his sandwiches made from homemade bread and baking to the highest bidder to fund his hockey card collection.
Over mom’s life she worked as the local Avon representative as well as working as a cook at the Island Hub Restaurant in Mindemoya.
Into the ’80’s and ’90’s as Mom and Dad approached retirement they opened up their home to Norma’s Bed & Breakfast. They thoroughlyenjoyed entertaining people from all over the world.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Norma Elizabeth Woods Elliott 2019..
