VASIL, Nicholas Paul
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dearly loved father, Nicholas Paul Vasil. Nicholas passed away in the early morning hours of Saturday, March 23, 2019, in his 92nd year. He will be greatly missed by his wife Thelma (Tipoulow). Nicholas was predeceased by his beloved, eldest daughter, Victoria (May 2018). He is survived by his children, Sophia (Steve), Peter (Tina), and Steve (Jane). Lovingly remembered as Dedo by the grandchildren he was so proud of: Bryan and Marcus, Nicole, Sarah, and Stephen, Melissa, Danielle, and Nicholas, and Aaron, Nathan, and Julian, and all of their spouses and partners. He was also fortunate enough to have known many of his great-grandchildren: Matthew and Sophia, Vanessa and Jessica, Abigail, Essa, Zoe, and Theodore, Gianna and Mattea, Madeline and Ella, and Lilly and Logan. Nicholas is survived by his three sisters, Anna (The late Andy), Mitra (Tom), and Sophie (the late Bob) and predeceased by his brother Andy. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law, Chris (the late Shirley), and Louis (Ingrid).
Nicholas was born in Greece and came to Canada as a teenager where he began work in the restaurant business in Hamilton, and several years later, partnering with his brother-in-law, Chris, in many well-known Hamilton restaurants for over 30 years. To Dad, from your children: We will always remember the happy Friday nights spent with you and Mom, and the entire family, with much good food and laughter. Spending time on your favourite pastimes, like tending to your vegetable garden, playing golf with your grandsons, and your love of chess. Although the last several years were difficult for us all, we know you always knew we were there. You knew your beloved wife never left your side. We wish to extend our sincerest thanks to all the staff at the Villages of Wentworth Heights. There are too many of you to name, but your kind care of our parents has been comforting and valuable to us. You have truly become part of their family, and for that we are grateful.
Visitation at Bay Gardens Funeral Home, 1010 Botanical Drive, BURLINGTON (905.527.0405) on Monday from 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 22 Head Street, Hamilton on Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at 11:00 am. Burial at Mount Hamilton Cemetery, Hamilton. For those who wish, memorial donations made to the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated.
“We love you, Dad. Rest in peace, you are with Vicky now.”
