Marilyn Hirtle
1940-2019
It is with sadness that the family of Marilyn Carol
Hirtle announces her passing which occurred on Tuesday, March 26, 2019
at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Marilyn was the wife of the late
Norwood « Sonny » Hirtle of Hampton, NB. Born in
Petitcodiac, NB, on December 4, 1940, she was the eldest daughter of
the late Curtis and Adelaide (Smith) Rogers.
Marilyn was a retired teacher and a life-long learner. She
enjoyed reading, knitting, bowling, her Red Hat and Rumolli groups,
music and animals. Her pet miniature schnauzer, Laddie, was never
forgotten.
Marilyn is survived by her five sons: Scott (Wanda) Hirtle of
Lantz, NS, Michael (Donna) Touchie of Ottawa, ON, John Touchie (Paula
Rogers) of Brisbane, Australia, Stephen (Anne) Hirtle of Quispamsis,
NB, and Robert (Fern) Touchie of Quispamsis, NB; seven grandchildren:
Kala & Kristian Hirtle, Thomas Rogers, Sarah & Andrew
Hirtle and William, Roxy & Dallas Touchie; sisters: Jean
(John) O’Donnell of Moncton, NB, and Diana (John) McCabe of
Fredericton, NB; special aunt Jean Taylor of Moncton, NB; six nieces
and nephews; as well as many great nieces and great
nephews.
The family would like to extend a thank you to
Marilyn’s special friend Fred Lynch, his niece Lorna Carrier
(Ron) and his son Richard Lynch (Lucie) for all their wonderful
support of Marilyn over the years. Also a special thank you to all her
friends & family who supported her during her battle with
Multiple Myeloma. The family wishes to express their gratitude towards
Dr. Collings and Dr. Dolan for years of excellent care as well as the
doctors & staff of 3C North and the Palliative Care Unit of
the Saint John Regional Hospital for their care in Marilyn’s
last weeks. To all these individuals, thank you for your care given
towards Marilyn, your kindness and compassion will not be
forgotten.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral
Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB, where a
Celebration of Marilyn’s life will be held on Saturday, May
18th, 2019, from 2 to 4pm. A private family
interment will take place at Hampton Rural Cemetery.
Donations in memory of Marilyn may be made to the Canadian
Cancer Society, MS Society of Canada, the Hampton Food Basket, SPCA or
to the memorial of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences
