Lois Felkar
March 07, 2019
Surrounded by family, Lois Felkar, 64, of St. Marys, ON (formerly Surrey, BC), died peacefully at home on Wednesday March 6th, 2019.
Lois’ family was the pride and joy of her life. She is survived by her husband, Ken, daughters Sarah, Kendra (Jarryd), Victoria, and beloved granddaughters Anika and Samantha.
She was born to the late Norris and Barbara Moore, December 5, 1954 in Guelph, ON. In the mid 1960’s, the Moore family relocated from Collingwood, ON to Port Coquitlam, BC. She attended Port Coquitlam Senior Secondary (class of 1972), and in 1977, graduated nurses training from the Royal Columbia Hospital. This was only the beginning of her educational pursuits. In 1991, Lois achieved a bachelor’s degree in nursing from University of Victoria and graduated from Gonzaga University with a Master of Nursing in 1996. A pioneering nurse practitioner, Lois’ lifelong devotion to the art of nursing took many forms throughout her trailblazing career. This included her role as an emergency room nurse, a nursing instructor, a committee chair, and a hospital administrator. She truly had a remarkable and unmatched career, and her family is so proud of the legacy she has left behind.
All those who met Lois will remember her bravery, determination and indomitable spirit, that encouraged those around her to live their best life. After her valiant battle with breast cancer in 2006, Lois’ was faced with complicated and rare health complexities. Despite her health woes, she pursued a new passion for dragon boating with Abreast in Boat, and was an active hospital board member after she and Ken retired to St. Marys in 2013. Lois was an avid quilter and seamstress, enjoyed travelling, reading, and most of all spending time with family and friends.
We invite you to join us to celebrate Lois’ life on Sunday March 10th, 1-3 p.m. at the St. Marys Golf & Country Club. *Program starting at 1:30 p.m.
Please feel free to share memories, readings and words. Later in the spring, the family will be hosting a west coast send off for Lois in British Columbia. Details will be released at a later time.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in memory of Lois to the St. Marys Healthcare Foundation.
The family encourages you spend time with your loved ones by taking a walk on the beach or forest. Please share a meal, a laugh, and make a toast to enduring friendships, lifelong and beyond. From the rainbow bridge, that is what Lois would want.
