Lois Ella Faulkner
It is with great sadness that
the family of Lois Ella Faulkner, 88, announces her passing on
Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at Serenacare,
Moncton.
Born in Moncton on March 31,
1930, she was the youngest daughter of George and Georgie (McBrien)
Wetmore.
Growing up in Lewisville
during the Depression and Second World War, Lois considered herself
fortunate to attend Humphreys School and Moncton High, recognizing
education for the opportunity it was and instilling in her children
its value. As a young woman, she enjoyed working as a comparative
shopper at T. Eaton Co. where she was also a member of the Eaton Glee
Club. A natural and gifted musician, she became a soloist
and accompanist at an early age and would often fondly recall her time
as a member of the Robin Bayley Chorale.
A few years after they were
married, Lois, Bernie, and daughter Janet, moved up the hill from her
family home along with her parents, whom she continued to
care for until their passing. Here, they continued to be
active in their community, canvasing for various charities and serving
at the church where she grew up, Lewisville United Baptist Church,
where she was a faithful member of the choir and served with her gifts
of music and baking. She was also recognized for her long time
membership in the Evelyn Eaton Missionary Society. In later
life, she and Bernie transferred to First Baptist Church where they
continued to give their support and deeply appreciated the love and
support given them.
Baffling her daughters with
her love of « keeping house », Lois maintained a deep
gratitude for her home, family and friends. She felt no greater joy
than to have all her children and grandchildren around her and looked
forward to stocking her cupboards full of homemade brownies, rolls,
doughnuts and more of their favourite foods whenever they came
home. Lois and Bernie were delighted to open their home to
extended family and friends whenever, and for however long, they came
to visit, creating many cherished memories, but most importantly,
nurturing an abiding sense of family that we will always
treasure.
Lois is survived by her
daughters, Janet (Steve) Rundle, Dartmouth; Joy (John) Martel,
Riverview; Julie Faulkner, Montreal; grandchildren, Kevin (Nikki),
Heather (Matt), Erin, Caitlin; great-grandchildren, Ella, Dylan;
brother-in-law, Lev Bradley and many special nieces and
nephews.
She was predeceased by her
husband of 63 years, Bernard; brother, Elmer Wetmore and sisters,
Luella Cameron, Iva Bradley and Beulah
Garland.
Funeral arrangements are under
the direction of Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton
(858-1995), where a service to celebrate Lois’s life will
take place on Monday, March 11, 2019 at 11:00 am, Rev. Dr.
J. Richard Jackson officiating. Interment will be at a later
date in Elmwood Cemetery, Moncton.
In lieu of flowers, donations
in Lois’s memory may be made to First Baptist Church,
Moncton, or a charity of your choice.
