Judith Gautier
1933-2019
It is with sadness that the family of Judith Anne (Laurie)
Gautier announces her death at the Oromocto Public Hospital on Friday,
March 22, 2019. Born in Barrie, ON, on November 14, 1933, she was the
wife of the late Jean-Pierre Gautier and the late Eric
Stephenson.
Judy leaves behind her children, Marc Gautier (Christine),
Anne Boudreau (Brad), Paul Gautier (Anne), and Pierre Gautier
(Michelle); her grandchildren: Trish Kramer (Aaron), Laurie Donnelly
(Mike), Joanna Gautier (Gareth), William Gautier (Bailey), Jesse
Gautier, Jordan Gautier, and Robert Gautier; her great-grandchildren
Maya and Chloe Donnelly, and her sister, Elizabeth Martin. In addition
to Jean-Pierre and Eric, Judy was predeceased by her parents, Neil and
Mary (Battle) Laurie; and sisters, Mary Manuell and Penny
Gleason.
After growing up in Barrie, Ontario, Judy graduated from St.
Joseph’s School of Nursing, Hamilton in 1956. She worked for
several years in her field in Hamilton and Toronto, as well as in her
father Dr. Laurie’s medical practice in Barrie. After
marrying in 1960, Judy raised her four children in Barrie. In 1987,
Judy and her husband, Jean-Pierre, moved to New Brunswick where she
has been residing since that time. Judy has always been very active in
her church, sorority, craft groups and various volunteer activities.
She faithfully attended her nursing reunions every year in Hamilton
for over 60 years. Never one to be far from her vocation, Judy was
most recently volunteering at the Oromocto Hospital gift shop. Judy
will be remembered for her strength, her kindness, her faith and her
devotion to family and friends.
There will be no visitation. Memorial Mass will be celebrated
at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church at a later date to be
announced. In lieu of flowers, donations in Judy’s memory
can be made to Hospice Fredericton.
