Obituary of Jim Taber
Peacefully passed away at Derbecker’s Heritage House in St. Jacobs on Friday, March 1, 2019, in his 78th year. Jim was proud to be a firefighter with the Kitchener Fire Department from 1964 to 1994. He was the much loved and devoted husband of Carole Taber (nee Busch) who predeceased him on July 14, 2003 after 41 years of marriage.
He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten, by his daughters Robyn Gromeder and husband David of St. Jacobs and Tara Bradley and husband Gary of Waterloo. Loving and cherished grandfather of Bethany Harris and husband Neil of Inverhaugh, Timothy Gromeder and fiancée Sarah McCullough of St. Jacobs, Krista Gromeder and partner Andrew Coghlin, Kristen Bradley, and Jennifer Bradley, all of Waterloo. Special GG to Zachary and Alexander Harris of Inverhaugh.
Also remembered by his sisters Winnie Snively and husband Gord of Simcoe, Pat Linn and husband Kim of Delhi, and Mary Lou Bentley and husband David of Tillsonburg, brother-in-law Richard Busch and wife Luann of Sheffield, nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
Jim was predeceased by his parents Wilfred Taber and Edna Caron, infant daughter Krista Taber, sister Betty Curran and husband Ben, brother Allen Taber, and sister-in-law June Reick and husband Bernie.
Friends and family may visit and share memories on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, 62 Arthur St. S., Elmira. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at 2 p.m., with a reception to follow, at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, 131 Flaxmill Dr., Conestogo. Spring interment will take place at St. James Lutheran Cemetery, St. Jacobs.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Conestogo, or Lutheran Bible Translators of Canada would be appreciated.
