SHORROCK
Mr. James Alan Porter Shorrock passed away at the Rimbey Hospital on March 9, 2019 at the age of 91 years. Alan was born on the family farm on Feb 14, 1928. He received his schooling at nearby Medicine Valley and Andrews School as well as Olds College, where he learned welding. Alan began farming with his brother Cliff at the age of 14. Throughout his life, Alan enjoyed working in his shop and helping neighbor’s with their farm machinery. Alan was known and respected for his ability to repair things. Alan enjoyed his weekly trips to Rimbey on Auction day as well as Eckville to play pool and visit with friends.
Alan was predeceased by his parents Norah Porter (Shorrock) and James William Shorrock, as well as sister Edna Carroll, brother Cliff, and a half sister, Alice Copithorne of Maine. Alan will be lovingly remembered by his three nieces, Heather Gunderson, Nita Lawson and Kathleen Grant and their families. Alan will be missed by his friends, neighbor’s and extended family.
A graveside service will be held at the Bradshaw Cemetery on Friday, March 15th at 11:00 am with Leanne V. Hall officiating. Lunch will follow at the Gilby Hall.
