On March 26, 2019 Ena Campbell passed away peacefully at the age of 97 in Lacombe, Alberta. Ena is survived by her son, Delton; and daughter, Nancy (Rick); as well as five grandchildren, Madeline, Duncan, Mackenzie, Patrick and Andrew; two great grandchildren, Ebony and Tyson; her cousin, Louise, and many other cherished family members. Ena was born in Peavine in 1921 and grew up with her mother, Isabella, father, Ninian, and siblings, Malcolm and Anne. Following in her mother’s footsteps, Ena became a teacher, eventually finding her place teaching first graders in Sherwood Park where she taught for 19 years. Ena’s positivity and bright personality attracted people throughout her life including her husband of 59 years, Roy Campbell (who also noted her winning smile). Roy and Ena were married in Edmonton in 1950 before moving into a house they built in Sherwood park. This beautiful home became the backdrop to countless cherished family events, as well as the backdrop to many of Ena’s famous watercolor paintings. These watercolors featuring lilies, peonies, and pansies have found their way onto many walls, showing just how many people Ena touched in her life.
We are so grateful for the gentle, compassionate care Ena was given by the staff at Royal Oak Village and by Dr.Olivier.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ena Campbell’s name would be appreciated to one of Ena’s preferred charities, the United Way. Donations can be made online – www.myunitedway.ca/ – or sent to United Way of The Alberta Capital Region, 15132 Stony Plan Road Edmonton, AB, T5P 3Y3.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Hughina Ena Cameron Campbell March 26th 2019..
