It is with profound sadness that the family of Gordon Murchie announce his passing after a lengthy illness, on Saturday, March 23, 2019. Gordon will be lovingly remembered and forever treasured by his wife Lorna. He is survived by his children, Joanne Hilker (Michael)of Caledonia and Barry Murchie (Griselda) of Chicago. Predeceased by his first wife, Joanne Murchie (Beaulne, 1989). Also survived by his precious grandchildren, Tyler, Katie (Joseph), Olivia and Stuart, as well as his extended family, Lorna’s daughter’s, Lynette (Dave), Leanne (Dan) and Lisa (Jay) and grandchildren. He is already deeply missed by his surviving brothers, William (Mary), George (Elizabeth) and his brother-in-laws, Dino Bartolini and Maurice Forget. Predeceased by his sisters, Vivian Fraser, Enid Bartolini, Mair (Woods, Forget) and brother-in-law, Bill Fraser. For almost 60 years, Gord loved living the Mt. Hope, Caledonia, life, where he met his cronies “The Dumpster Boys”, his “Cold Stove Gang”, the Broomball crowd and the 447 Club, (The Wing) mates, always partaking in a pint of his favorite libation. The great “Gord-on”, (self named), and his “Lovely Lorna” were avid walkers and hikers, having travelled every continent on the globe. Gord achieved much success in his working life, first with Wallace Barnes as an employee, then Union Steward, becoming Union President, and retiring as an educator with United Steel Workers (Canada), at head office in Toronto. He was a proud Scout Master of the 29th Scout Troop in the late 1950’s, then later a “Men’s Baseball” coach and Broomball organizer, “bartender” and great friend to many. Many thanks to the staff at Juravinski Hospital, Dr. General, the staff of St. Peter’s Hospital and Dr. Salbie for their wonderful care of Gordon. Visitation will take place in the MILLER FUNERAL CHAPEL, (28 Caithness St. E.
