BENJAMIN Gordon Craig, R.N. (Retired) – age 77, of Yarmouth N.S. passed away unexpectedly on March 24, 2019 at Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Halifax on February 23, 1942 he was a son to the late Lloyd and Mildred (Benjamin) Harrison of Kentville. Gordon was a loving husband, father, and grandfather with a kind and gentle soul. He started his working career as a psych orderly before working as a CNA. He would later graduate from Yarmouth School of Nursing as a RN, then graduated from ST FX with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. He worked over 50 years in nursing at many hospitals in Nova Scotia and Maine. Gordon finished his last 7 years of his working career at the Villa St Joseph du Lac in Dayton, Yarmouth Co. He was always noted to have a great bedside manner and being caring and compassionate to his patients and their families. Gordon was a lover of all things musical. He played piano very early into his childhood first by ear and then later by studying the instrument. He was a faithful member of Yarmouth North Baptist Church where he was the pianist. In his spare time, he was a voracious reader of anything he could get his hands on. He is survived by his loving wife Beverley (Gardner); sons, Craig (Allison) Benjamin, Lexington Kentucky; David Benjamin, Dartmouth; Pastor Mark (Erin) Benjamin, Raleigh North Carolina; daughter, Akiko Sakaki-Benjamin, Yarmouth; and 13 grand children. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his sister, Phyllis (Clifton) Prest. Cremation has taken place under the care of Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. A celebration of Gordon life will take place Saturday March 30, 2019 at 2 P.M. from Yarmouth North Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Shawn Kehoe officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in Gaspereau Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in memory can be made to Yarmouth North Baptist Church.
