Eric William Lawseth
(75) Sydney
With broken hearts, the family of Eric William Lawseth (75)
announces his passing on March 9th at his home
in Sydney. He was the son of the late Ragnivald (Roy)
Lawseth & Clarissa Derbyshire.
Born in Jasper, AB, Eric rolled into Sydney in his 1964
½ yellow Mustang convertible and quickly wooed his love of
50 years, Allura (Canning). He kept her, his family
& friends laughing with his dry wit until he lost his long and
hard fought battle.
Eric was a dedicated employee of the Cape Breton Post for 44
years. His unlimited interests fed his endless appetite to
learn, explore and find his latest hobby.
He enjoyed skating and skiing, photography, model railroad,
model airplanes and having new cars and all the technology that came
with it. He was an audiophile at heart, he had a passion for the
latest amplifiers and speakers. Eric wanted his life to be
constantly filled with music; and it was, the louder the
better.
To his friends, he was an avid piano player and handyman,
ready to lend a hand with any project that needed
doing. To his family, he was the constant
jokester, corrector of grammar, with a generous hand and heart beyond
compare.
Although his passion was always to play classical piano, he
shocked his family with a new love for singing. After his retirement,
he became a proud member of the Cape Breton Chordsmen where he found
an extended family & friends that he cherished.
He will be deeply missed by his wife Allura, 2 daughters
Khirsta and Erica. Son in law Andrew MacDonald and 3
grandchildren; Braydon, Morgan and Keeley.
A visitation will be Wednesday March 13, 2019 at Sydney
Memorial Chapel from 6:30-9:00pm.
We’d like to thank the many healthcare
professionals that helped to provide care and support to Eric and our
family.
