Obituary
Donald « Ducky George » MacDonald died
peacefully at his home in Melmerby Beach, Nova Scotia at the age of 78
on March 25th.
Don is survived by his wife, Leona (Theriault); son
and daughter-in-law Kenneth and Sheri MacDonald of Calgary; daughter
and son-in-law Cindy MacDonald and Patrice Cayer of Calgary;
grandchildren, Ainsley and Nolan MacDonald, and Xander and Malia
Cayer; siblings, Anne Cameron of Antigonish; John McDonald of Halifax;
and Austin « Aussie » MacDonald of Halifax. Don was
predeceased by a son Scott MacDonald
.
Don was born on April 30, 1940 in New
Glasgow, a son of the late George and Margaret
MacDonald . Don graduated from St. Francis Xavier University
and had a long career with the department of Indian Affairs in Halifax
and Amherst before retiring permanently to his summer residence at
Melmerby where he spent his days with Leona, beach friends and family.
He was an avid gardener and a member of the Stellar Curling Club. Don
was a kind and generous soul, a loving husband, father and
grandfather, and will be greatly missed.
A
visitation will be held at the Angus Funeral home in New Glasgow from
6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday March 29th. A funeral is
scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday March
30th at Saint John the Baptist
Catholic Church 390 High St, New Glasgow. All are welcome to attend
and celebrate Ducky’s life. In lieu of flowers, please send
