Donald’s Obituary
PETERS, Donald Allan ~ Age 73 of Wilmot, NS, passed away Friday, March 1st, 2019 in Valley Regional Hospital. Born in Halifax, he was the son of William and Mary (Brett) Peters. Don will be dearly missed by his wife of 50 years, Verna (MacLean); son, Glenn (Penny) Peters, Ottawa, ON; daughter, Erin (Anders) Stjärne, Waterloo, ON; cherished grandchildren, Maggie, Sarah, Klara, Johannes; sisters, Janet (Robert) Smith, Waverley, Marion Mason, Tantallon, Carol (Byron) Moser, Glen Margaret, NS. Don was predeceased by his parents; his brother, William “Bill” Peters; and sister, Patricia “Patsy” Clarke. In his youth, Don loved to go flying and sailing. While his children were growing up, he coached hockey and was a favourite « neighbourhood dad. » Don retired in 1998 after serving 33 years with the RCMP as a corporal, having worked in Ontario, Newfoundland and Nova Scotia. After his retirement, he became a volunteer Fire Fighter with the Newcombville Fire Department and enjoyed volunteering for Duck’s Unlimited Canada. Don was an avid golfer and long-time member of Paragon Golf Club. Don appreciated his many friendships within the local music community, and had lots of fun working the soundboard, recording videos and being Verna’s roadie. Don will be missed and remembered by many. Donations in Don’s memory may be made to a charity of choice. By Don’s request, there will be no visitation or service.
