Bernie was a lifelong resident of Cambridge (Galt). He worked at
Scott’s and Scroggin’s Shoes before finishing his career
at Babcock and Wilcox. Well known in the sporting circle of his time,
dad enjoyed hockey, softball, golf and 5 pin bowling. In 1961 he
bowled the first 450 perfect game in Waterloo Region. In later years
he moved to 10 pin where he also excelled. He was a convenor and
coach for Galt Minor Hockey for many years. An avid woodworker and a
lifetime fan of both the Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Blue Jays.
Dad loved reading sports and local history books written by hometown
authors.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Cambridge Memorial
Hospital. The care and compassion dad received was given so
generously by the staff on many occasions and was greatly appreciated.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Bernie at
Corbett Funeral Home, 95 Dundas St., Cambridge, where family and
friends will be received on Wednesday March 20, 2019 from 7-9p.m. A
Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Thursday
March 21, 2019 at 1p.m. Cremation will follow.
