Althea Bradbury
December 21, 1927 – March 16, 2019
Passed peacefully away at St Patrick’s Mercy Home on March 16th, 2019 holding her husband’s hand and surrounded by her loving family, Althea Bradbury (nee Morash) age 91.
Predeceased by her parents, Gordon & Lillian Lee Morash; siblings, Edgar Bryson Morash (Mary), Cyril Morash (Mabel) and Viola Harding; sister-in-law, Mary Marshall (James) and brother-in-law, Albert Bradbury (Lillian).
Leaving to mourn her husband, Bernard of 67 years; her children, Brian (Cynthia), Keith (Brenda Snow), Dianne Organ (Jim), Sharon Shano (Robert) and Carolyn (John Rothwell). Grandchildren, Jayson Bradbury (Tonielle), Stephen Bradbury (Renee), Heidi Woernle (Georg), Terri Gedrasik (Andrew), Michael Organ (Melissa), Miranda Kreft (Darren), Tara Wilson (Ang Ell), Robert Shano, Allison Organ (David Sutton) and Nicholas Wilson (Lacey Lehmann); 13 great grandchildren; her step-brother, Gerald Ward (Marie) Milton, NS; brother-in-law, Ron Bradbury (Barb) and sister-in-law, Theresa Ritz, Virginia USA.
Althea was born in Harmony Mills, Queens County, Nova Scotia. She met the love of her life Bernard in Goose Bay in 1949 and they were married in 1952. They spent the next 29 years raising their family in St. John’s. They moved to Parksville on Vancouver Island in 1981 and returned to St. John’s in 2000. They were fortunate enough to have watched their grandchildren from both coasts of Canada and Alberta grow up and have their own children.
A special thank you to Ed and Helen Gosse and Kay Barnes who would make our parents stay at St. Patrick’s Mercy Home even more enjoyable with their regular visits for a game of cards and to her brother-in-law Ron for his many visits to spend time with our parents.
Our heartfelt thanks for the compassionate care she received from the professional staff of the 4th floor of St. Patrick’s Mercy Home, who made her stay there feel like home.
Cremation has taken place. The family will be receiving visitors at Caul’s Funeral Home, 84 LeMarchant Road from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday, March 21st and Friday, March 22nd. Funeral service will take place on Saturday, March 23rd, 2019 at 10 a.m. from Holy Trinity Church, 2 Convent Lane, Torbay. Interment to be follow at a later date.
