CIANFAGNA, Tommaso ‘Tom’ – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our dad, in his 92nd year, at home with his family. Tom was born December 1, 1927 in Campobasso, Italy. He came to Fort William, Ontario in 1954 where he met Rose Chiodo. They were married July 9, 1955 and in 1977, Tom and Rose and their four children moved to Niagara Falls. Tom was an active member of Our Lady of Scapular Church in Niagara Falls and served as an usher for many years. He worked as a welder and when not working enjoyed wine-making and gardening, and cooking alongside his wife for friends and family. Tom was predeceased by his loving wife in 1989, was the dear dad of Susan DiMaurizio and her husband Rino of Niagara Falls, Frank Cianfagna and his wife Patricia of Ridgeway, Nina Elliott of Vancouver, Washington, and Lorianne Vieira and her husband Marco of Niagara Falls. He was a loving Nonno to Jonathan and wife Kari, Michael and Thomas Elliott, April and Alex Cianfagna, Thomas and Julia Vieira, and Matteo, Alessandro and Roberto DiMaurizio. He was the loving brother of the late Joseph Cianfagna, Theresa Cianfagna of Thunder Bay, Nick and Theresa Cianfagna of Western Australia, Mario and Mina Cianfagna and Annina and the late John Cianfagna of Montreal, Quebec, Pat and Delia Cianfagna, and Rose and Mario Guererra of Waterbury, Connecticut. He was a dear brother-in-law to Peter and Ida Chiodo from Thunder Bay, Luigi Chiodo and his wife Gina of Niagara Falls, Nellie Mercuri and her husband Domenic, Alfredo Chiodo and his wife Leila, Tom Chiodo and his wife Emma, Victor Chiodo and his late wife Rena, and Minnie Maletta and her husband Pierino, all of Thunder Bay. Tom is predeceased by his parents Domenic and Lucia Cianfagna and his parents-in-law the late Maria and Joseph Chiodo. Tom will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews, and his very special and loyal friend Foster Stark. Friends are invited to call at the PATTERSON FUNERAL HOME, 6062 Main St. Niagara Falls visiting Thursday 1-4 and 7-9 pm. Vigil prayers will be celebrated at 3pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday at 10:30 am at Our Lady of the Scapular Church. The Rite of Entombment will follow at Fairview Mausoleum. In memory of Tom donations to Big Brothers/Big Sisters Niagara Falls or Big Brothers/Big Sisters St. Catharines-Thorold and District would be appreciated by his family.
