Newman Watson Pratt, of RR#4 Durham, passed away at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Durham on Sunday, February 10th, 2019 in his 94th year. Beloved husband of Inez (nee Morrison) for 70 years. Loving father of Janice Pratt and her husband Howard Mitchell of Dornoch, Roy Pratt and his wife Peggy of Barrie, Karen Pratt and her late husband Cal Ritchie, Richard Pratt and his wife Kristine, and Lyle Pratt and his wife Kerry, all of Durham. Cherished grandfather of Paul MacKinnon, Deidre and her husband E.J. Hunt, Owen Pratt and his friend Courtney Brandt, Latricia Pratt and her husband Dao Tran, Ash Pratt and his friend Brittney Anderson, Wesley Pratt and his wife Lisa Lorenz, Vicky Pratt and her husband Ryan Becker, and Rachael Pratt. Great-grandfather of Emanuel MacKinnon, Graham Hunt, Emmett Hunt, and Milo Hunt. Dear brother of Wally and Edna Pratt. Brother-in-law of Madeleine Pratt, Olive Aitken, Jean and Tom Bovingdon, Raymond and Karen Morrison, Velma Morrison and Isobel Morrison. Predeceased by his parents Edward and Bertha (nee Watson) Pratt, his sisters Geneva Hedley (the late Ron Rolston and the late Ken Hedley), Doris Leith (the late Harvey Leith), his brothers Charles Pratt, and Mel Harrison (the late Agnes), and his in-laws; Royden Morrison, Walter Aitken, Vera Aitken (the late Murray Aitken), Lloyd Morrison, Hazel Northey (the late Walter Northey), and Roy Morrison.
Visitation:
Friends may call at the McCulloch-Watson Funeral Home, Durham on Thursday, February 14th from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m., where members of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 308 will hold a memorial service at 6:45 p.m.
Celebration of Life::
A funeral service celebrating Newman’s life will be held at the Durham Legion, 271 Bruce Street North, Durham on Friday at 1 p.m., with visitation being held prior to the service from 12 – 12:45 p.m. Spring interment at Trinity Anglican Cemetery.
