Strength is the first word that comes to mind in describing Nora and her four-year battle with Cancer.
Her courage and perseverance was a light to many.
She loved and accepted all who knew her.
She inspired her family and friends by who she was as a mother, daughter, grand-mother and wife.
Nora passed with peace and grace on February 24th, 2019 with her husband Lyle at her side.
She is survived by her husband Lyle (44 years married) of Edmonton; her daughters Nichole of Grande Prairie, and Lorrie of Edmonton; grandchildren Brandon Henke of Edmonton, Nile Juneau (Katelynn) of Red Deer, Jacob Pariseau of Grande Prairie, Faith Juneau of Grande Prairie and Joseph Rahey of Edmonton; siblings Linda Fleming (Larry) of Wabamun, Glenn Marr (Karen) of Thorsby; mother-in-law Margaret Henke of Wetaskiwin, brother-in-law Brian (Rhonda) Henke of Ponoka, brother-in-law Duane Henke of Usona.
Nora was predeceased by her parents William (Bill) Marr (1914-1992) and Marie Marr (Moonen) (1920-2001), her sister Joan Marr (1949-1968) and father-in-law Rudolf Henke (1919-2003).
Nora’s Celebration of Life will be held at St. Peter’s Church, 5012 51 Ave., Leduc, AB on Wednesday, March 6th, 2019 at 2:30pm, officiated by Pastor Neil Stern.
Cremation has taken place so there will be no viewing, nor a cemetery service.
Fellowship with food and refreshments will be held at The Coast Nisku Inn & Conference Centre, 1101 – 4th St. Nisku, AB, at 4pm to 6pm in Ballroom 1 & 2.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Bokenfohr (G.P), Dr. Meza-Junco (Oncologist), Dr. Capstick (Oncologist), the entire Cross Cancer Institute, the Lois Hole Hospital for Women, and St. Joseph’s Covenant Health Hospice, for their kindness, support, and care shown during Nora’s illness.
In lieu of flowers or gifts please offer a donation to one of two charities close to Nora’s heart, The Alzheimer Society of Alberta in memory of her mother Marie Marr (Moonen) or The Alberta Cancer Foundation in support of people who journey as she did through Cancer.
