With sadness, we, the family of Murray Silver, regret to
announce his passing on Thursday, January 31, 2019, at home,
surrounded by his loving family.
Born July 10, 1937, in Ingonish, he was the son of the late
Sarah Jane (Hardy) Silver.
Until retirement, Murray was employed as a truck driver with
Scotia Wholesale. He was an avid harness racing fan and a member of
the Harness Racing Association. Murray enjoyed many sports including,
darts, hockey, baseball and fishing.
He is survived by his daughters, Jody (Chuck) Ivy and Sherry
(Jim Melvin) Silver, both of Sydney; grandsons, Noah and Owen Ivy; and
granddaughter, Ryan Elizabeth Melvin. Murray also leaves behind his
companion, Marie Bungay and many family and friends, who were a great
source of comfort and support during this difficult time. Murray was a
devoted husband and father. His girls were the center of his world.
His grandchildren, his pride and joy. Murray will be remembered for
his dry wit and humour. He was a very giving friend and neighbour,
offering a helping hand to anyone in need.
Murray was predeceased by his loving wife of 44 years, Judy;
sister, Rose Snow; and brother-in-law, George Miles
There will be no visitation. Funeral service will be held at
Sydney Memorial Chapel on Sunday, February 3 at 1 p.m., with Mr. Gary
Grant officiating. Interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens at a
later date.

Hospice Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton County.
