Maureen Doiron
1927-2019
Doiron, Maureen Marjorie, of
Antigonish, passed away peacefully at St. Martha’s Regional
Hospital in Antigonish on February 11, 2019.
Born in Newton, Massachusetts on August 8, 1927, she was a
daughter of the late Robert and Marjorie (Gerrior)
Cunningham.
Maureen graduated from Boston College in 1952 and in the
following year moved to Antigonish after marrying the love of her
life, Leo Doiron.
Maureen was a talented seamstress and loved to bake. There
were always sweets waiting on the kitchen counter. In her earlier
years, she loved bowling and playing bridge and continued to play
bridge in recent years with the gang at Club 60. She also loved an
adventure, and after Leo’s passing, she travelled
extensively to visit her children, driving solo many times to Ontario,
New Orleans, Boston, New Hampshire, and Vermont. But most of all, she
loved her summers in Bayfield with family.
She is survived by her children, Denyse (Steve) Kyle,
Antigonish; Daniel, Montreal; Adele, Antigonish; Linus (Stacey),
Reading, MA; Melanie, Concord, NH, and Paul (Ruth), Windsor, VT;
grandchildren, Danielle, Leo (Naomi), Matthew (Connie), Shawna, Jared,
Zachary, and Nicholas; great granddaughter, Carmela; and sister,
Virginia.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Leo;
her sister Pat; and her grandson, Nate.
There will be no visitation. A funeral Mass will be held at
St. Ninian’s Cathedral at 11AM on Saturday, February 16,
Reverend Donald MacGillivray presiding. Burial in St.
Ninian’s cemetery at a later date.
In Memoriam, donations to St. Martha’s Regional
Hospital Foundation or VON Antigonish appreciated.
