Mary Agnes Gallagher
Mary Agnes Gallagher – 82, Truro, passed away peacefully Thursday, February 14, 2019 in Wynn Park Villa, Truro with her good friend, Mary Fillmore and kind care givers from the Villa by her side.
Born in Oshawa, Ont., she was a daughter of the late Roy and Frances Gallagher formally from Dublin, Ireland and Scotland.
In her earlier years, she was employed by the Immaculate Conception Parish as the Glebe House cook, baker and caretaker. She loved her work there and was proud to be part of the wonderful church community on a daily basis.
She enjoyed in her earlier years, sports (especially baseball), roller skating, cooking, reading, writing, singing and bingo!
She was predeceased by two children, Gregory MacEachern (age two and a half), and by Dolores MacEachern (age 18); sister, Josephine Haskill; brother, Robert Gallagher. She is survived by her five children; sons, Allen, Angus and Stanley MacEachern; two daughters, Cindy (MacEachern) Savoy, Jeanie (MacEachern), Sears-Hughes; sister, Dolores (Gallagher) Keeler, three grandchildren, Sonny Savoy, Cassandra Savoy, Abe Boisvert, Kaitlyn Sears; great granddaughter, Abriel Boisvert; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A special thank you to the staff of Wynn Park Villa. The care they provided for our mother was outstanding. Thank you also to her family and friends for their ongoing support over the years. She had a special place in her heart for her many Truro and Cape Breton friends who made many trips to visit her.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro, from where visitation will be held Tuesday evening, February 19 from 6-8pm. A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, February 20 at 2pm in the funeral home chapel. Reception will follow. Interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity near and dear to Mary’s heart, to assist with helping missing and exploited children through the Truro Police Service.
