Obituary
COOK, Marijtje (Mary) (nee Stroomer) passed away peacefully on February 11, 2019 at home in Coquitlam, BC at the age of 92. Predeceased by husbands, Adrianus Schreurs (1989) and George Cook (2005), daughter-in-law Debbie (2006), grandson Sandy (1994) and great grand-daughter Jenna (2010). She will always be lovingly remembered by her children, Helena Harris, Mary Bilesky (Jim), Bill Schreurs (Vadie Bond) and Jake Schreurs, as well as 11 grand-children, 21 great grand-children, and 2 great-great grand-children.
Mary was a religious, caring, loving, kind and hard-working woman. Her smile and sense of humour could brighten anyone’s day. As the eldest of 15, it only seems fitting that she naturally had such a motherly instinct and an affinity to young children, who were the light of her life.
The family would like to thank Rev. Prashanth Kumar for performing the last rites, Dr. P. Aitken for her utmost care and compassion that went above and beyond, as well as Dr. J. Eddy and the Palliative Home Health Team for their dedication in the final stages of her life. We could not have given our mother the care she deserved without all the support we were given and are therefore incredibly grateful to each and everyone of you.
The continued support and prayers from family and friends has been greatly appreciated.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place on February 16th, 2019, 11:00 am, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 330 Royal Ave, New Westminster, BC., Fr. Martin Moser OMI officiating.
Internment will be in Powell River, BC at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of BC or the BC Cancer Foundation.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Marijtje Cook March 31 1926 February 11 2019..
