VANHOOYDONK, Joseph Peter “Joe” (1939 – 2019) – surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, February 13th, 2019 at the age of 79. Joe was a respected upholsterer and businessman in the community for over 45 years. Beloved husband of Fran Van Hooydonk (nee Lefevre) of Simcoe. Loving father & grandfather of Dean Van Hooydonk (Margaret Rutherford) of Toronto; Darren Van Hooydonk of Toronto, step-children Sonia, Isabel & Madeleine Catalli; and Lee Ann Kitamura (Evan) of Mississauga, daughter Chelsea. Joe will be sadly missed by his siblings Stan (late Paula) of Belgium, Marcel (Anna) of Belgium, Alois (Mary Randall) of St. Thomas, Dr. Vincent (Nancy) of Tillsonburg, and Maria Goetschalckx (late Jules) of Belgium. Joe will be lovingly remembered by Kim McElhone (Jeff) of Mississauga and by many other nieces, nephews & extended family in Canada and Belgium. Predeceased by his sister Maria Brutin and by brothers Rene (late Magda), Sooi Van Hooydonk (late Marie Louise) and by sisters-in-law Micheline Caerels (late Noel) & Millie Van Hooydonk. Friends are invited to share their memories of Joe with his family at the JASON SMITH FUNERAL CHAPEL, 689 Norfolk St. N. Simcoe for visitation on Friday, February 15th, 2019 from 2-4 & 6:30-8:30 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 211 Union St. Simcoe on Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Al Dufraimont as celebrant. Private interment of ashes at a later date.
