Suddenly on Monday, February 11, 2019, at the Portage and District General Hospital, Joseph Malleck passed away at the age of 57 years.
Joe was born in in Kitchener, Ontario where he grew up and attended school. At the age of 18 he began as a metal sheet apprentice with Marvel-Air Ltd. He received his electricians ticket while working at Kaufman Footwear. He worked for several electrical companies including Becker’s Lay-Tech Inc., J.M. Schneider Inc and Kitchener Frame Ltd. From 2009 until 2019 he was employed by McCains Foods Ltd. in Portage la Prairie, MB. He loved working with electronic robots in the large processing plants. He was an accomplished electrician, carpenter, and mechanic. He could build or repair anything and would help anyone.
Joe played hockey for many teams in Kitchener, Ont. including two years professionally.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Elaine (nee McIntee), one daughter Holly (Jason) , one son Joshua and daughter-in-law Susan; his grandchildren Kaid and Kingston. He will also be missed with warm memories and much love by his siblings: Gay (Tom), Bud (Fiona), Pat, Maureen, Holly (Don d.) and Michael (Jill); sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Thomas (d.), Donna (Wayne), Patricia (d.) (Frank (d.), Murray (Tanya), Paul (Deanna), Paula (Bob) and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; Gerald and Eileen Malleck and in-laws Thomas and Audrey McIntee.
Cremation has taken place and a service to celebrate Joe’s life will be held during a private family interment in Ontario
Joe said « as expressions of sympathy, buy a tradesman a tool or plant a fruit tree in memory. »
