JOAO R. DOS SANTOS
January 2, 1925 – February 23, 2019
Peacefully on February 23, 2019 Joao R. Dos Santos passed away soundly in his sleep at the age of 94.
Joao was predeceased by his wife Isabel, son Luis, and grandson Valter.
Leaving to cherish his memory are his children, Maria (Tony), John (Jacqueline), Rui (Gina). Joao also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Edith, Daniel (Sherry), Priscilla (Bruno), Elizabeth, Michael, Nick, Zoe and Sophia along with his 5 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Celeste (Portugal), close and cherished nephew Julio and Cecilia, and extended cousins and friends (Canada, U.S.A. and Portugal).
Joao was born in Portugal on January 2, 1925. In 1971, Joao & Isabel immigrated to Canada in search of a better future for their 4 children. Joao worked for Pourex Counstruction for many years until he was ready for his retirement at the age of 64. Joao, looked forward to his yearly trips back to Portugal in which he indulged in the beauty of his farmland and bragging about how amazing “his” wine was. He enjoyed this until he was no longer able to make the long journey home. Everyone who came into contact with him enjoyed his sense of humor and amazing conversations. Joao’s passion for gardening/farming, pruning and extensive knowledge of farming was impressive to all.
Joao lived a long and fulfilling life until dementia began to set in. In the years leading up to his passing, Joao continued to be his feisty funny self. The family would like to thank all those who continued to visit with Joao. We would also like to thank the kind and compassionate staff at middle church nursing home.
Prayers will be said on Thursday, February 28 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 1, at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Parish, 181 Austin Street N. Interment to follow in Holy Family Cemetery on Main Street.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de JOAO
