1929 – 2019
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Hilda Mary Mitchell announce her passing at Chancellor Park in St. John’s on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at the age of 89 years. Predeceased by her husbands Don Stone and Fred Mitchell, and grandson Joey Basha, she leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her son Eric Stone (Donna); daughters Phyllis Basha, Cynthia Stone, and Sandra Ward (Mark); stepdaughter Ruth Barkhouse (Wayne); grandchildren Nick Ward, Jason Stone (Joy), Matthew Stone (April), Sarah Ozahioglu (Onur), Erica Stone (Dustin Rideout), Jackie Berenson (Alex), Robbie Basha, Cindy Basha, Ian Barkhouse, Emily Barkhouse, and Adam Barkhouse; great-grandchildren Rebecca, Lucy, Ezra, Ella, Lilah, Lotus, and Luna; sisters Vivian Child (Willie) and Bertie Tyler; and sisters-in-law Hilda Pike and Mary Ann Graham, as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends. Special thanks to the staff at Chancellor Park, Third Floor West Nursing Unit, for their caring and gentle professionalism over the past two years. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 218 Curling Street on Sunday from the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Monday, February 11, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Curling Street with Archbishop Stewart Payne officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Newfoundland and Labrador or flowers are gratefully accepted.
