Gladys Blanche Perry
1945-2019
Perry, Gladys Blanche, age 73, of Monastery, Antigonish
County, died peacefully on February 13, 2019, in St.
Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish, surrounded by her
family the way she wanted it to be.
Born in Monastery, she was a daughter of the late Edward
& Martha (Bowie) DeCoste.
A devoted Captain’s wife of almost 55 years, she fished for
years by her hubby’s side, although was fired in the boat a few
times. She loved her grandchildren, her pride and joy.
A loving mother, she had a special bond with her daughter
Ronda, seeing her through this journey from start to finish.
Her heart of gold spread far and wide and her infectious
personality lit up any room. She was a social butterfly who loved
being surrounded by the ones she loves. Gladys involved herself within
her community, always giving back and asking for nothing in return.
The Sunday night card games at the sisters were always something she
looked forward to. Gladys was vice president of the Ladies Auxiliary
of Tracadie & District Fire Dept. She was an Avon
representative for 10 years, where she made a lot of lasting
friendships and brought a smile to many faces. A beautiful
soul, inside and out, she will be missed beyond words.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Wilson; son Ricky
(Kathy), Monastery; Ronda (Paul) Rogers, Bridgewater;
special grandchildren, Ashton, Hannah, and Abbey, and Perry and Logan;
one very special special great grandchild, Landon.; sisters, Shirley
(William) Boudreau, Lila Beshong, Florence (Clifford) Boudreau, and
Muriel (Kenneth) Gorman, all of East Tracadie; Barbara (Roy) Perry,
Monastery; and Theresa Decoste, Dartmouth; brothers, Lloyd (Shirley),
Toronto; Eddie (Margaret), Gerald, and Eugene (Eleanor), all of
Monastery; and aunt, Bessy Fougere.
Predeceased by son, Rodney; brothers, Vincent and Ralph; sisters,
Stella and Gloria; sisters-in-law, Edith and Marilyn
Decoste; and brother-in-law, John Beshong.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm in
C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish.
Funeral Mass will be held Monday at 11:00am in St. Peter’s
Church, Tracadie, with Fr. John Barry and Fr. Danny Boudreau
presiding. Burial in the parish cemetery in the
spring.
In Memoriam, donations to Tracadie CWL or the Antigonish Town
& County Palliative Care Society appreciated. Online
