Ernest « Ernie » Melvin’s Obituary
PINE TREE – Ernest Melvin “Ernie” MacLeod, 83, Pine Tree passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2019, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in Avondale, he was a son of the late Freeman Sinclair and Edna Louise (Cameron) MacLeod. Prior to retirement, he was a welder at the former Trenton Works for many years, along with working several other jobs at the same time. Ernie enjoyed four-wheeling, gardening and fishing at LORDA and Lawlor Lake, Guysborough County. He was a member of Sutherland’s River Presbyterian Church and a thirty-year jewel holder of Hudson Lodge No. 77, A.F. & A. M., Thorburn. Ernie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. He will be dearly missed by all he loved.
Surviving are his daughter, Glenda MacLeod (Darrell Wilcox), Lower Barney’s River; Elden MacLeod, Pine Tree; Sheldon (Julie) MacLeod, Telford; grandchildren, Chantal (Jamie) O’Kane, Melissa MacLeod, Jenelle MacLeod (Jared MacKinnon), Jamie MacLeod, Kyle MacLeod and Brittney MacLeod; great-grandchildren, Brixton, Brady, Abigale, Reese and Ceilidh; sister, Freda (Mike) Craig, Truro; brothers, Rev. Donald (Merelyn) MacLeod, Bras d’Or Lake; Cameron “Camie” (Dorothy) MacLeod, Avondale; brother-in-law, John Grandy, Lake Echo; many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife Ferne; sister, Vera Grandy
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, March 1st in Telford Cemetery, Telford with Mr. John Reeves officiating.
