March 22, 1922-February 13, 2019
Elma Richter passed away peacefully at the age of 97 years in
West Park Manor on February 13, 2019.
Left to cherish her loving memory are her sister Edna Owens
and Ralph Owens, sister in-law Arlene Richter and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Ida and
William Richter, her brothers Burt, Irvin, Lenny, Rudy and Art Richter and
sisters Martha Neiser, Irene Etsell and Eleanor Pelse. It gives us joy knowing that Elma has now
joined her loving family who have predeceased her.
Aunty Elma was born and raised on a farm in Beausejour, MB
with her parents, 5 brothers and 4 sisters.
Times were very different back then, and she enjoyed spending the time with
the many animals and especially was fond of horses and enjoyed the close family
life filled with music with her brothers and sisters.
Aunty Elma worked at Skinners Restaurant in Lockport which
is still there today. She would travel to
see her relatives in British Columbia and work during the summers picking
apples in the orchards. Eventually she moved
to Winnipeg and worked at Swifts meat packing for many years. She had close friends through work and spent
much time travelling through the United States and winters in Hawaii.
She loved to read, music of all kinds, dining at different
restaurants, spending time with her nieces and close friends. Aunty Elma was a very private person.
A small graveside service for family and friends will take place in the spring in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Beausejour, MB.
